ORANGE BUCKET HUNGER MINISTRY

St Andrews wear Orange.jpeg

The orange bucket ministry was born out of a desire to show love to our community and to help our church family understand that even the smallest coin can make a big difference. The clatter of the change each Sunday as people empty their family offering into the larger bucket is a visual and aural reminder that the problem of hunger has not been solved. In our very own state, voted one of the best states in U.S., nearly 20% of our neighbors don't know where their next meal is coming from. One in five children in Iowa do not have enough to eat.

Since we first began collecting change in 2013, our Help Change Hunger campaign has raised more than $30,000 in loose change donations, which translates into represents more than 1 million meals for hungry children and their families in Des Moines.

Inclusivity

Convinced of God's grace, Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church affirms that there can be no exclusiveness in the body of Christ. We welcome all, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, gender, ability, culture, socioeconomic standing, education, family configuration, military status, or political perspective; and we encourage the full participation of all in the

life of our congregation.

Our Shared Vision

Saint Andrew’s is a vibrant

community of faith striving to

provide a nurturing spiritual home for all, embracing God’s desire

for justice in the world.
